With so much good music being released all the time, it can be hard to determine what to listen to first. Every week, Pitchfork offers a run-down of significant new releases available on streaming services. This week’s batch includes new albums from Kate NV, Jehnny Beth, Chloe x Halle, KEY!, and Gia Margaret.
Kate NV: Room for the Moon [RVNG Intl.]
Room for the Moon is Russian artist Kate NV’s second album for RVNG Intl., following 2018’s instrumental для FOR. “I finished this record during the loneliest period of my life,” NV said of Room for the Moon, on which she sings in English, French, and her native Russian. Jehnny Beth: To Love Is to Live [Caroline]
Jehnny Beth wears many hats: She’s the leader of Savages, a radio host, an actress, and an erotica writer. To Love Is to Live marks the first time she’s released music as a solo artist. Originally slated for a May release, the album was postponed in order to support independent record stores with the physical release. Guests on the new LP include the xx’s Romy Madley Croft, actor Cillian Murphy, and IDLES’ Joe Talbot.
