At least four movie theaters in Central New York are aiming to reopen for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began in March.

The Movie Tavern in Camillus, Manlius Art Cinema, Hollywood Theatre in Mattydale, and Oswego Cinema 7 all said they plan to reopen Friday, Oct. 23. Face masks must be worn at all times except when seated and eating or drinking, and social distancing will be required.

AMC Theatres, the nation’s largest chain of movie theaters, said Monday it plans to reopen a dozen locations in Upstate New York and Long Island. AMC has locations in Allegany, Amherst, Buffalo, Stony Brook, Vestal (near Binghamton), and Webster (near Rochester).

Regal Cinemas, the second-largest U.S. chain of movie theaters, has not said if it will reopen this week. The company has more than 40 locations in New York state, including at Destiny USA in Syracuse.
