Becoming an overnight pop sensation wasn’t so easy for Justin Bieber.

The 26-year-old singer, whose debut EP “My World” thrust him into fame, released a music video on Friday for his song, “Lonely,” which gives fans insight into the unseen loneliness he faced despite being in the public eye.

At the start of the 2-and-a-half-minute music video, Jacob Tremblay plays a young Justin Bieber, shown in the singer’s signature purple hoodie and side-swept bowl cut hairstyle, sitting alone in his dressing room. Tremblay’s Bieber dejectedly prepares for his performance all by himself, as Bieber sings about struggling to balance his success and accompanying feelings of isolation.

“Maybe when I’m older it’ll all calm down, but it’s killing me now/ What if you had it all but nobody to call, maybe then you’d know me/ Cause I’ve had everything, but no one’s listening, that’s just (expletive) lonely,” Bieber sings. “Everybody knows my past now, like my house was always made of glass/ Maybe that’s the price you pay for the money and fame at an early age.”
