You can buy a game-used LeBron James jersey from his rookie year. But it will probably be one of the most expensive purchases you ever make.
Goldin Auctions has put up for auction a 2003-2004 James Cavaliers road jersey, worn during two games (on Nov. 7 and Nov. 12, 2003). They were the fifth and eighth NBA games James played in, respectively.
“After setting the record earlier this year for the sale of a LeBron James card for $900,000.00, we are hoping this jersey will set the record for the highest price paid for a basketball jersey which is $630,300,” Ken Goldin, founder of Goldin Auctions, told TMZ last week.
The current record-holder for a jersey auction purchase is James’ 2020 NBA All-Star game-worn jersey. As of Monday morning, the highest bid for James’ rookie jersey was $70,000 and climbing. The online auction still has 33 days left.
