As movie theaters reopen in Upstate New York for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began in March, many are wondering: What movies are out right now? What new movies are coming?

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said theaters, outside of New York City, can reopen Friday, Oct. 23, at 25% capacity and with no more than 50 moviegoers in front of each screen. Other restrictions include wearing masks at all times, except when seated and eating or drinking, and sitting in assigned seats with social distancing.

Movie theaters opening Friday include eleven Regal Cinemas locations (including at Destiny USA in Syracuse), The Movie Tavern in Camillus, Manlius Art Cinema, Hollywood Theatre in Mattydale, Oswego Cinema 7, and some of AMC Theatres’ Upstate New York locations.

Destiny USA announced Wednesday that its Regal theaters will be showing 2020 releases like Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet,” the X-Men horror film “The New Mutants,” the Robert De Niro comedy “The War With Grandpa,” the new Liam Neeson thriller “Honest Thief,” Russell Crowe’s “Unhinged,” and the supernatural crime drama “The Empty Man.” Regal will also show seasonal movies like “Monsters Inc.” and 2019′s “The Addams Family” for $5 per ticket.
