The trailer for Jay Baruchel’s new horror film for Shudder Random Acts of Violence trailer has debuted and features a strong premise. The film stars Jesse Williams, Jordana Brewster, Baruchel, and Niamh Wilson in a movie where a comic creator’s character Slasherman may be coming to life as a fan starts to bring the murders from the comic to the real world. Shot in what looks like a more DIY style than some other films releasing as of late, the unique hook will make this one to stream for sure on Shudder. You can see the trailer for Random Acts of Violence down below.

Random Acts of Violence Synopsis

Comic book creator Todd Walkley (Jesse Williams), his wife Kathy (Jordana Brewster), assistant Aurora (Niamh Wilson) and best friend, Hard Calibre Comics owner Ezra (Jay Baruchel), embark upon a road trip from Toronto to NYC comic con and bad things start to happen—people start getting killed. It soon becomes clear that a crazed fan is using Todd’s “SLASHERMAN” comic as inspiration for the killings and as the bodies pile up, and Todd’s friends and family become victims themselves, Todd will be forced to take artistic responsibility. Directed by Jay Baruchel.

This looks pretty solid. Shudder has so many good originals, both feature films, and shows, in their library, and this one seems to be yet another. The release for this one is a little interesting, as it will release on demand and in theaters in Canada on July 31st. Random Acts of Violence will then debut on Shudder exclusively on August 20th. Solid summer horror and I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a limited drive-in run as well.
