The 146th Kentucky Derby is a casualty of coronavirus restrictions, but through the magic of technology a virtual race will feature an all-star cast of former champions today, Saturday, May 2.
The Triple Crown Showdown will pit all 13 Triple Crown winners. NBC will air the virtual race at 5:45 p.m. Gate positions were set this week for the horses who won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes.
The actual race has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5.
Fans can go to kentuckyderby.com to predict a winner and donate to coronavirus-relief efforts.
