The City of Vancouver is focusing on building community and volunteerism in support of the environment on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22.
The action starts in the morning with several City-hosted service projects and activities.
Volunteer Planting at the Downs (FULL): From 10 a.m. to noon the first plants in the future learning garden at The Downs Neighborhood Park will be planted. Contact cityvolunteer@cityofvancouver.us or 360-487-8344.
Litter Clean Up at Bagley Woods (FULL): Volunteers will clean litter in the wooded area at Bagley Park. Contact litterstewards@cityofvancouver.us or 360-487-7166.
Ivy Removal at Behrens Woods: From 9 to 11:30 a.m. Remove invasive plants from Behrens Woods Urban Natural Area, with a focus on removing English Ivy from on and around trees and existing native plants to minimize impacts to forest health. Register, Ivy Removal at Behrens Woods.
LeRoy Haagen Adopt-A-Park Work Party: From 10 a.m. to noon volunteers will remove invasive plants at LeRoy Haggen Memorial Park. Register, LeRoy Haagen Adopt-A-Park Work Party.
Tree of Heaven Awareness Walk: Join Urban Forestry for a one mile walk and talk about the invasive Tree of Heaven, also known as ailanthus. The hour walk starts at 10 a.m. at Bagley Park. Contact Urban Forestry.
