The NFL is a quarterback league. After the 2021 NFL Draft this past weekend in Cleveland, there is no such thing as a too-early look at 2022 and College Football News recently delivered a top-10 ranking.
The 2021 college football season will serve a telling prerequisite on whether or not the order stays the same, but it is an early indicator of what to expect ahead of this fall. Earlier in March, 247Sports’ Chris Hummer released an extra-early big board, which included the 2022 draft’s top 10 overall prospects and listed players to watch at premium positions.
“It should be stated up front: The 2022 class is far less settled at the top than the 2021 crop,” Hummer said. “The high end of the 2019 recruiting class — those would-be juniors — is not nearly as strong as the class that preceded or followed, which means we’re sure to see plenty of late risers.
“Throw in the impact of COVID-19 on the 2020 season both in terms of development and playing time for some top prospects, and there’s sure to be plenty of huge jumps that occur during the season.”
