This past weekend saw the annual UIL Texas state track and field championships reconvene in Austin after a year off in 2020 because of the pandemic. The action-packed event featured impressive performances from numerous FBS prospects across multiple recruiting classes. With that in mind, 247Sports provides a rundown of the notable football prospect-oriented track and field accomplishments from the Texas state meet.
The five-star wideout from Frisco Liberty is a well-established track and field standout among the best in the 2022 recruiting cycle in that environment. Stewart won gold in the Class 5A long jump with a stellar leap of 24 feet, 6 1/2 inches, which was more than a foot and a half better than second place. Stewart also won silver in the 5A triple jump with a mark of 48 feet, 9 inches.
Additionally, Stewart anchored a pair of Frisco Liberty relay squads that medaled — the 4×400 relay won gold, while the 4×200 relay won silver. These accolades accompany an even deeper track and field resumé that includes a 10.58-second 100-meter time from April 1, as well as 21.72-second 200-meter time from April 24. The 247Sports Composite ranks Stewart at No. 34 overall in the class, No. 3 among 2022 receivers, and No. 9 overall in the state of Texas.
